VOCABULARY:

EXASPERATED - To irritate or provoke to a high degree; annoy extreamly

BOVINE - Of or pertainining to the subfamily bovinate which includes cattle, buffalo, and kudu

PLAINTIVELY - Expressing sorrow or mournful 

MELANCHOLY - A gloomy state of mind when habitual or prolonged; deppressed 

RETORTED - To reply to usually in a sharp or retalitory way; reply in kind to. 

ABRUPTLY - Sudden or unexpected

FIGURATIVE LANGUAGE:

PERSONIFICATION - The lamps were burning

PERSONIFICATION - Heat lightning again and again it throbed without a sound

PERSONIFICATION - The sun was a roar without sound

SIMILE - They would all come running like pigs to slop

SIMILE - They were careful with her as if she were an egg

METAPHOR - The road was an ailse of brilliant velvet dust

METAPHOR - The sun was a blazing glare, so thorough and remorsless
