Monique was only 2 years old when she had to flee Paris with her family. They went to St. Laurent de Neste in the Pyrenees. Her mother left her with a family who hid her and many other children in a small room. She always missed her Mom and dad and the family didn't give the kids dinner if they did somthing wrong somtimes she got so hungery she had to dig for roots to eat. As the days went by and the war was comming to the end she was reunited with her family and they soon decited that they were going to imigrate to America.

Zigmond was 3 years old when the Germans invaded Belgium. When Zigmond was 5 years old his father was sent to a labor camp and his step mother left to hide, leaving Zigmond with his aunt and uncle. They pretended to be Catholic but 2 years later the Gestapo found them. Zigmond, his aunt, and 2 cousins were sent to Auschwitz, where he was unfortunately gassed. Zigmond only lived up to 7 years old.

Chaim had a normal life in a Jewish town. When he was 23 years old he became a soldier. Soon after, the Germans invaded Poland and he was captured. He was sent to a Labor camp, and 2 years later he was transfered to the Sobibor death camp. Chaim and a small group of prizoners attacked the guards. Chaim took a knfe and stabbed the head guard 3 times one for his father, one for his mother and the last for all of the Jews ever killed. Then he and his girlfriend escaped in to the forest. They later married and imigrated to America.

Fela was a hat designer until she met her husband Moshe Galek. They got married and had 4 girls. In 1939 Fela and her family were wearing the gold stars, and in 1940 they were forced to move to the Warsaw ghetto. The family was able to survive there until the final round up. She was separated from her children, and unfortunately she and her husband were executed.
There were about 9 million Jews living in Europe before the Holocast. Leon survived but most did not. Historians estimate that about 6 million Jews lost their lives, that is 66%!! Here are a few of the other stories of victims and survivors.
